Meet the Face Behind Summer Archive

Isabella D’Alessandro

Isabella D’Alessandro is the founder of Summer Archive LLC, a landscape design, construction management, and floral studio based in Northern California.

Her love for outdoor spaces began long before she became a designer. Every summer, Isabella looked forward to returning to her grandmother’s home in Folsom, California, where the garden was filled with sunflowers, strawberries, seasonal blooms, and spaces to swim, garden, lounge, and gather. She remembers picking sunflower seeds until her fingers were red and blistered, listening to the wind chimes, and watching her grandmother effortlessly bring friends and family together.

Those summers shaped the designer Isabella would become. Her grandmother showed her that a thoughtfully designed space can do more than look beautiful; it can create a feeling, bring people together, and become part of a family’s story.

That idea became the foundation for Summer Archive. Isabella combines her background in landscape design with her love of floral design to create outdoor spaces that feel personal, inviting, and full of life.

Summer Archive was built on a simple belief: your favorite vacation shouldn’t always require leaving home. Whether it’s a simple backyard garden or a full outdoor living space, each project is designed to feel like a destination, bringing a sense of relaxation, connection, and summer home.

After a decade designing high-end residential landscapes throughout the Bay Area, Isabella returned to the Sacramento area and founded Summer Archive with the goal of bringing a thoughtful, design-driven approach to the area.

Today, her work is rooted in creating beautiful, functional landscapes that encourage people to spend more time outside and make lasting memories. She also believes responsible design is essential, incorporating native and climate-appropriate planting and fire-conscious strategies suited to California’s environment.

The best landscapes aren’t just designed to be seen. They’re designed to be felt.

Summer Archive was born from her belief that landscapes should be more than beautiful; they should create a feeling, hold memories, and invite us to slow down and enjoy the everyday.
